AbstractIn defining the Church as "the People of God", the Second Vatican Council proposed an ecclesiology of communion as necessary for the renewal of the ecclesial fabric in order to present the true face of the triune God of Love. This ecclesiology is advancing in theological reflection, magisterial teaching and, not least, in new forms of ecclesial praxis. This article reviews how its reception requires the promotion of a "culture of synodality" but that in itself is not sufficient. The article goes on to propose how it is important to be attentive to the spirituality of communion and deeper awareness of the Church's charismatic/prophetic profile.
