AbstractThis paper deals with the provision of education in Library and Information Studies in the West African country of Sierra Leone. It is based on the author's experience of teaching at the University of Sierra Leone. Developing countries face an enormous range of problems in providing education and training for librarianship. Problems such as lack of resources, language difficulties and the challenge of designing courses under enormous constraints are discussed.
